One can barely touch a newspaper, watch a television or listen to a radio without being confronted by the pressing need to develop clean, sustainable and renewable sources of energy. Our patent pending WindCell allows cost-effective wind power generation to be installed in locations previously off limits because of zoning, low wind speed and cost difficulties.

By replacing old propeller driven generators on tall towers with whisper quite enclosed impellors mounted on your homes roof, California Wind Systems brings wind generated electric power to everyone. Read on to understand and how you can change the world one WindCell at a time.

California Wind Systems WindCell Technology
Nearly all wind turbines in use today are upwind, horizontal-axis turbines, where the rotor spins in front of a tall tower. Even the newer generation of micro turbines is based on the ubiquitous 3-blade propeller configuration. For a variety of reasons (noise, tower height, safety, etc.) this current standard design is of little to no use in urban and suburban environments.

An innovative new design is needed to enable the average homeowner to harness the abundant free wind energy that blows across their rooftops everyday.

The lateral design of the California Wind Systems WindCell turbine is a radical departure from the propeller configuration. As many as forty blades are aligned in a 4 foot spiral helix on a drive shaft. This lightweight, easily balanced design gives the device considerable torque—even in low wind speed conditions. The WindCell turbine is mounted inside “wind collector” housing that concentrates and funnels the wind into the turbine. The wind collector housing is mounted at the peak of rooftop. This placement has the added benefit of capturing the wind that naturally accelerates up over the entire roof line of the house. The extraordinarily small footprint (less than 1 foot high in 4 foot segments) of the system provides for simple, unobtrusive installation on a typical rooftop.

What’s more, the electricity generated can be used for immediate local needs without the loss of power typical in transmission across long distances. The California Wind System turbine can also be tied to the homeowners’ municipal power grid or sent to local batteries for future needs. Many rebate incentives and credits are offered to homeowners who install a renewable energy wind system.
